Two years after 22-year-old Congress leader Twinkle Dagre went missing, police have solved the mystery behind her disappearance, exposing a sordid murder allegedly perpetrated by her lover and his sons.
The case has all the ingredients of a Bollywood potboiler — extra-marital relations leading to family tensions, murder and diversionary tactics by the accused to mislead the investigators and implicate the deceased’s parents and fiancé.
Main accused Jagdish Karotiya, a 65-year-old former BJP corporator, left behind a false trail of evidences leading to her parents in an attempt to deceive the police.
Police got a major breakthrough from a brain mapping test conducted on the accused, exposing the gory details of how an unsuspecting Twinkle accompanied the killers to an isolated spot where she was strangulated.
“The murder and the elaborate cover up was inspired by the movie ‘Drishyam’ starring Ajay Devgan,” DIG Harinarayanachari Mishra said.
Twinkle allegedly had an illicit affair with Jagdish Karotiya and started forcing him to stay with her. She had an abortion, he said, adding, this was creating friction in Jagdish’s family that led them to hatch a plot to kill her.
